In all cases, migration tests were carried out in deionized water (MilliQ), an established simulant for drinking water. Migration conditions were 70º C for 2 hours, conditions considered to be the most unfavorable case from the migration point of view.
· Manufactured with raw materials included in the lists of substances permitted for the manufacture of plastic materials and objects intended to come into contact with drinking water (Royal Decree 118/2003 BOE of February 11, 2003).
WHERE CAN I USE TWO-COMPONENT EPOXY PAINT FOR FOOD OR SANITARY USE?
In the industrial field for the protection of surfaces exposed to attack by aggressive chemicals (waste water, alkaline or slightly acidic aqueous solutions).
Interior coating of tanks for products intended for FOOD (drinking water)
Due to its absence of solvents, it can be applied in closed spaces without risk of explosion.
Repair of pipes for transporting sewage water.
For general painting for the protection and repair of floors, ceilings, skirting boards in food facilities, laboratories, health centres, residences, schools, canteens, wineries, etc.
For special use in slaughterhouses, canneries, dairy industries, cold storage rooms for food, operating theatres, veterinary centres, kitchens in bars and restaurants, school canteens, etc.
It is a suitable anti-dust treatment and prevents carbonation of concrete.
Ideal for coating in poorly ventilated areas, as it is water-soluble and its composition is low in VOCs.
HOW SHOULD I APPLY PAINT FOR WALLS AND CEILINGS FOR FOOD AND SANITARY USE?
-Steel surfaces: with abrasive blasting up to Sa3 scale with high roughness.
-Concrete: The application base must be clean, dry and free of old paints, grout and curing liquids; it must have open pores, which we will achieve by mechanical treatment (blasting or milling) or by other chemical treatments.
-On concrete floors the pavement must be set (28 days minimum).
The surfaces to be treated must be solid, clean and dry for proper subsequent behaviour of the product.
Paint for walls and ceilings in sanitary or food areas can be applied on surfaces with a certain humidity (maximum 8%). It does not harden properly on surfaces with a continuous supply of humidity by capillarity.
Epoxy paint for walls and ceilings can be applied directly to steel and has very good adhesion. On the other hand, it can also be applied directly to concrete, but on very porous surfaces a first coat diluted 20% with clean water should be applied.
Epoxy paint for walls and ceilings is supplied in two separate containers, which must be mixed for use. Mix the two components for 4-5 minutes until a uniform colour and consistency is achieved.
The first layer will be diluted with 5-8% water, depending on the porosity of the substrate.
It is very important not to exceed 300 gr/m2 per coat.
Do not apply at ambient temperatures below 10ºC and relative humidity above 75%.
It can be applied with a brush, roller, spray gun and airless gun.
The paint for walls and ceilings for food and healthcare uses has very good chemical, abrasion and scratch resistance, and is also certified under Article 12 of Regulation (EU) 10/2011 on plastic materials and objects intended to come into contact with food.
