The sand pools usually made with materials natural, since the objective of such pools is that it seems we have a beach in our garden.
To manufacture the sand pool, different steps are carried out, the first in an excellent waterproofing of the base, before or after laying the reinforced concrete, depending on the type of waterproofing you choose.
After placing the concrete, a bonding bridge is applied to improve the anchoring of the sand coating on the reinforced concrete.
Subsequently, it is coated with a sand finish, mixed with an aggregate fixative or aggregate binder, resistant and of quality.
For a perfect compaction of the sand with the concrete, the fixer must be of high quality, to avoid sags and an easy application.
The sands that are normally used are: silica, quartz, dolomite, etc ... but you can use any type of sand.
ADVICE:
You have to bear in mind that if the sand that you are going to put in the pool is very absorbent, you will need a greater amount of binder resin, since the aggregate will absorb it, and only the resin that remains on the surface of the aggregate will stick.
On the other hand, for the maintenance of a sand pool to be exactly the same as that of other swimming pools, you must apply a waterproof varnish on top of the sand coating, made with resins that withstand chlorination and water treatments and the aggression of sweeper-bottoms.
That way you can treat it, exactly like the rest of the pools, without worrying that the sand will disappear over time.
The parts covered with sand and varnished with varnish for swimming pools, can be cleaned with water under pressure or high-pressure cleaners and their cleaning will be simple and effective, without having algae in the sand.
Regarding the purification and maintenance of the sand pool, the waterproof varnish for swimming pools must be made with resins that support the chlorination products of the water, and that the same systems or processes can be used as in any traditional swimming pool: chlorine , ozone, ultraviolet, salt, hot water, etc.
You can build your sand pool anywhere, since they withstand all kinds of climates, and also in any space, because they adapt to any surface.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO BUILD A CORRECTLY SAND POOL WITH LITTLE MAINTENANCE.
STEP 1.- WATERPROOF THE GLASS OF THE SAND POOL.
Once you have the design of the sand pool excavated, you have the pipes, the skimmers and the installation carried out, there comes one of the most important moments when building a sand pool.
Sand pools require good waterproofing
To prevent the passage of time from creating small cracks and leaks in the glass, it is important that you choose a quality waterproofing agent before starting with the concreting, although if you prefer you can also apply it later or even in both layers.
For this, you have liquid polyurethane membranes on the market .
Proper waterproofing of the pool glass will prevent you from leaking or leaking water in the future.
There are several methods to waterproof the glass of a sand pool under construction:
-We, as manufacturers and painting experts, are going to advise you on a high quality liquid waterproofing polyurethane membrane , which will avoid the possible problems of water leaks or losses, throughout the life of your sand pool.
Like other waterproof paints , this product will take care of offering you great protection against moisture. Its greatest benefit is its great elastic capacity.
As you know, after carrying out the construction of a swimming pool, it is quite common that the weight of the water ends up slightly settling the ground .
By having a continuous membrane without joints, this small movement will not cause water leaks that end up penetrating the ground.
This material will also be very useful if superficial cracks appear after the construction of your pool.
An application on the damaged area will leave the space as new and will prevent water from entering between the different layers of mortar that you have applied.
It is a one-component liquid product, made of a pure polyurethane elastomer, which once catalyzed or hardened, with ambient humidity, forms a continuous and elastic membrane, without joints or overlaps, so there are no possible leaks.
Being elastic, it allows the movements of new works, so it will be much more difficult for the pool glass to crack.
If you already have the pool built, and what you want is to cover it with sand, you can put the waterproof polyurethane membrane on top of the old support (paint, cement, tile, tiles, etc ...) to repair it and waterproof it, without having to build it again and give it a design finish, modern and current, by coating it with sand.

STEP 2.- COAT THE WATERPROOF POOL GLASS WITH CONCRETE, in newly built pools.
The next step will be to coat the waterproof polyurethane membrane with concrete, we advise you to put a mesh between the waterproof layer and the concrete to reinforce it.
If your pool already has concrete under the waterproofing, because you already had it built, you can skip this step.
You can also put the liquid polyurethane membrane on top of the concrete if you prefer.
STEP 3.- APPLY A JOINT BRIDGE TO THE CONCRETE AND COVER THE CONCRETE WITH SAND
You need to fix each surface correctly
The products to manufacture sand pools must be carefully selected to achieve the best result.
One of the most important is the bridge of union. This type of resin will help you bond the different layers of mortar in a lasting way, since its great adherence maximizes the natural fixing capacity of construction materials to the support.
In addition, it will make carrying out your application much easier.
In the case of high-thickness finishes, you can also opt for an epoxy resin primer that will facilitate the fixing of the sand and prevent it from separating from the mortar layer with daily use.
Resin for compacting and fixing pavements and swimming pools, with MARBLE, STONES, GRAVELS, QUARTZ or other AGGREGATES.
Once you have applied the concrete, we advise you to apply 1 coat of bonding bridge, it is a resin that acts as a glue to perfectly bond the concrete layer with the sand layer that we are going to apply.
You can also use the following primer epoxy resin for high thickness finishes, (100% solids), as a connecting bridge between the layers, in this case, you should not let the primer dry completely and you should apply the binder resin to the Once the primer so that it compacts everything together exactly, the concrete layer, with the sand layer that we are going to apply.
The final layer must be resistant and durable
. Aggregate pools must have great resistance to both the passage of time and humidity.
So that the surface layer does not suffer progressive deterioration over the years, it is essential that you pay attention to the binder.
The resin for sand pools needs to have a good fixing capacity. In the final layer it is important that you apply an aggregate fixing resin that can act as a glue for the stone .
The final result must be a product with great hardness and with the aesthetics and roughness appropriate to what you need.
With the help of this type of resin you will be able to permanently compact the entire surface of the glass. When applying it, you will have to take into account the type of aggregate that you are going to use, since a different amount will be necessary depending on its absorption capacity .
The next step is to cover the reinforced concrete and smeared with the joining bridge, with the chosen aggregate, this will be the layer that is visible in your sand pool.
We recommend putting a mesh between the concrete and the aggregate lining, to build the sand lining of the pool.
For the aggregate to stick to the cement, we must add a binder resin or aggregate fixer.
The quality of this resin will be what makes the aggregate more or less compact , and a perfect performance of the work will depend on it, and that the final support remains hard and passable, without falling apart.
ADVICE
Make sure to use a quality resin. The whole work will depend on it. If necessary, buy a sample to compare it with others on the market.
Compact the aggregate with the resin and put it in a plastic cup, you see comparing hardness throughout the days.
You will get the maximum hardness after 7 days.
The end result should be, a caked, hard as stone.
For a correct application of the resin to fix the aggregate of your sand pool, we recommend that you follow the manufacturer's instructions faithfully, in terms of performance, drying times, etc. (you can see the technical sheet of the product).
Our aggregate binder resin has excellent adhesion on concrete supports and extraordinary resistance to aging against UV radiation from the sun (not yellowing) and to climatic aggressions.
Resists water, with a marked special hydro repellency effect.
The best quality, by far, of those compared in the market.
The highest amount of resin in the formulations studied.
STEP 4.- VARNISH THE SAND COATING, WITH A WATERPROOF VARNISH FOR POOLS, to PROTECT IT from attacks
ADVANTAGES of Applying a Waterproof Varnish on top of the sand liner in a swimming pool.
Apply a good waterproof varnish
The use of automatic pool cleaners and pressure washers for daily cleaning of the sand pool can damage the surface layer of the pool.
To avoid this, you can use different types of varnishes that will completely seal the surface and will protect your installation for longer.
Among the highest quality products you can opt for acrylic waterproof varnish . This material is cheap and despite incorporating solvent does not yellow over time.
In addition, it has great elasticity and can easily withstand the chemicals that are commonly used to chlorinate water, even those used in swimming pools with salt water systems.
If you prefer, you can also opt for a waterproof polyurethane varnish.
It is made up of different polyurethane resins that adapt to different surfaces and are not damaged by the use of chemicals.
It also has high surface hardness and good mechanical strength capacity.
In addition to this, it perfectly withstands the passage of time and respects the adherence of the arid support at all times, which will help you avoid falls or accidents when you are using the pool.
These varnishes can be applied in different coats over the years. To ensure that the surface remains in good condition, it is recommended that you carry out an annual inspection in search of unprotected areas, in order to solve it as soon as possible.
If, once the sand coating in your pool is finished, you proceed to varnish and protect it, with a special varnish for pools, which allows permanent water impoundment, and water chlorination treatments, you will achieve:
The layer of sand, not suffer any aggression by funds sweeps, hydro cleaners, etc .. .
That you do not get algae in the sand, (being an open pore surface, dirt and algae adhere more easily, so when varnishing it, you will avoid this process)
That the cleaning of the pool and the water coloring treatments do not affect the sand coating, so it will last forever.
ADVICE:
A review of the pool glass, every 5 years, more or less to ensure that the protective seal with the waterproof varnish, is still intact and no wear has occurred, especially due to the use of bottom sweepers, and hydro cleaners, will suffice To guarantee good protection conditions on the aggregate, apply a new layer of protective waterproof varnish if necessary, so that the sand coating does not suffer any type of aggression and lasts over time.
You have two types of waterproof varnishes for pools that you can use, we detail the characteristics and benefits of each of them, so that you can choose the one that best suits your needs.
1.- WATERPROOF THERMOPLASTIC ACRYLIC VARNISH FOR POOLS.-
The main advantage of this varnish is its price, it is a one-component solvent-based acrylic varnish, very elastic, super passable, and that does not yellow. With excellent adhesion for waterproofing porous substrates.
