WHERE CAN I APPLY THE WATER-BASED ACRYLIC PAINT FOR POLYSTYRENE?

Due to its properties, this coating is ideal for painting and decorating all kinds of crafts made with materials that need to be painted in water, such as white cork, or porexpan.

HOW SHOULD I APPLY THE WATER-BASED ACRYLIC PAINT FOR POLYSTYRENE?

The surface to be painted must be free of dust, grease, old paint and completely dry.

Homogenize the contents of the container, stirring thoroughly.

The application can be done with a brush, roller or air-less. 

The first coat will be applied, diluting 20-25% with water; for the second hand the dilution will be 10%.

Do not apply below 5ºC

HOW TO PAINT EXPANDED PLOLYSTYRENE FOAM?

Buy an acrylic paint for crafts in the color you want, WE MANUFACTURE CUSTOM COLORS and all our colors are mixable with each other so you can create a multitude of tones and colors.

Acrylic paint is the best type of paint to use on styrofoam, or white cork, as it does not cause damage and adheres well.

Spread the paint over the Styrofoam making an even layer.

Apply the paint in even strokes all over the Styrofoam with the paintbrush, brush, or roller.

You may need to dab paint on any cracks and white spots left in the Styrofoam to make it even. 

We recommend giving two coats for equal absorption and shine throughout the piece.

Advice

• If the Styrofoam is uneven, use sandpaper to flatten it out before painting.
• If you can, poke the cork into a piece of wood to easily hold it while you paint; just keep in mind that this leaves a small hole where the wand will fit.

PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING SOLVENT PAINT or an aerosol polish FOR POLYSTYRENE

Don't use spray or solvent-based paints, as they dissolve styrofoam.

If you don't want to warp the styrofoam or white cork and leave the same texture as the Styrofoam when you paint it, don't use spray or solvent-based paints.

• Chemicals in spray paint are what destroy Styrofoam.
